For a long time, your Gmail address felt permanent once created, it stayed forever. But that rule may finally be easing. Google is slowly introducing a new feature that could let users change their Gmail username without creating a brand-new account. What’s new in Gmail? According to a Google support page shared in Hindi, users may soon be able to change their email address even if it ends with @gmail.com. Until now, this option was only available to people who used non-Gmail email IDs for their Google accounts. Gmail users were stuck with the same address, no matter how old or awkward it felt. How will it work? When you pick a new Gmail address, Google may keep your old one as an alias. This means: So, nothing gets deleted only your username gets a refresh. Important Limits to Know Google says you won’t be able to create another new Gmail address for one year after changing it. Also, users can change their email address only three times in total. Not available for everyone yet The feature isn’t live for all users right now. Google is rolling it out gradually, so you may need to wait before it shows up in your account settings.
