Google has added several features like ‘AI Inbox’ and ‘AI Overview’ to its email platform Gmail. Now, your Gmail inbox will not only receive emails but also, like a personal assistant, tell you which email is most important for you.
Google says that this new inbox will work on the reasoning power of Gemini 3. This will allow it to suggest necessary actions based on context, instead of just showing a list of emails. You will be able to search old mails by asking questions in the search box Now you won’t need to search by keywords or manually scroll to find old emails. You will be able to ask questions in plain language in Gmail’s search box. For example – “What was decided on this project last year?” or “Who sent the flight ticket?”. Gemini’s reasoning power will analyze your old emails and find precise information to give direct answers. Currently, this feature is available for Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers. Google has introduced the ‘AI Overview’ feature in Gmail, similar to its search engine. Often, many people converse in the same email thread, making it difficult to find old messages. Now, AI Overview will summarize such long conversations into a few points. Emails will be displayed based on need, not time Google is also launching a tool called ‘AI Inbox’. This inbox will organize your emails based on their importance rather than displaying them chronologically.
It will identify your important senders, upcoming deadlines, and crucial bill or appointment reminders and display them at the top. Google claims it is completely secure. ‘Help Me Write’ now free for everyone, will also match style Gmail’s ‘Help Me Write’ feature has now been made free for all users. Additionally, ‘Smart Reply’ has also been upgraded to ‘Suggested Reply’. It will understand the context of your conversation and suggest replies matching your old writing style (tone). This means it will help draft emails in your own style. Also read: Adult tech company unveils humanoid sex doll that adapts personalities for roleplay scenarios
Proofread and advanced features for premium users While many features have been made free, some special tools are still reserved for paid subscribers. The ‘Proofread’ feature, which suggests improvements in grammar, style, and tone, will only be available to ‘Google AI Pro’ and ‘Ultra’ subscribers.
Similarly, the natural language questioning feature is currently only available to premium subscribers in the US.
