Army personnel allowed to use Instagram:Comments blocked; non-confidential information can be shared via WhatsApp and Telegram

The Indian Army has introduced a new policy on soldiers’ use of social media apps. On Instagram, soldiers can view Reels, photos, and videos, but commenting is not allowed. Non-confidential information may be shared on apps like WhatsApp and Telegram. YouTube and X can only be used for informational purposes. Last month, the Indian Army patented the digitally printed design of its new Combat Coat. This three-layer uniform provides soldiers with comfort in all weather conditions. No one can manufacture, sell, or use this uniform design without the Army’s permission. Violating this will lead to legal action and fines. The new combat coat was designed by the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), Delhi, in collaboration with the Army Design Bureau. The Army first introduced the uniform in January 2025.
