
WhatsApp has introduced a new feature that allows users in India to recharge prepaid mobile numbers without leaving the app. This update supports major telecom operators like Jio, Airtel, and Vodafone Idea (Vi), making recharges quicker and more convenient. The feature is currently rolling out in phases on both Android and iOS devices and should reach all users soon. What this new feature does With this update, you can recharge your own number or someone else’s directly through WhatsApp. Users can check available plans, choose the best option, and pay securely in just a few taps. Payments can be made using UPI, debit cards, or credit cards. The system is powered by PayU and is part of Meta’s plan to turn WhatsApp into an all-in-one digital service platform. New ₹ icon makes payments easier WhatsApp has added a new ₹ icon on the home screen. This icon works as a shortcut for payments and services like: Here’s how to recharge on WhatsApp UPI users can confirm the payment by entering their UPI PIN. Once the recharge is successful, WhatsApp shows a confirmation screen with the selected plan details. Users can also check the transaction later in the History section at the bottom of the Payments homepage.
