Epstein files back again, with tech’s biggest names in spotlight:Bill Gates and Elon Musk are among the figures linked to newly released private emails with Jeffrey Epstein

Just when it seemed the Jeffrey Epstein case had faded into the background, a fresh release of documents has pulled it right back into public view, and straight into Silicon Valley. The US Department of Justice has released millions of new Epstein-related documents, offering a deeper look into the late financier’s private emails and associations. This latest dump paints a troubling picture of how closely Epstein stayed connected to some of the world’s most powerful tech leaders, from Bill Gates and Elon Musk to Sergey Brin and Peter Thiel. To be clear, none of the individuals named have been accused of criminal wrongdoing in connection with Epstein. But the emails, messages, and photos revealed so far are enough to raise uncomfortable questions and cast a long shadow over Big Tech’s elite. 1. Bill Gates Who he is:
Bill Gates is the cofounder of Microsoft and one of the most influential figures in modern computing. After stepping away from Microsoft’s day-to-day operations, he focused heavily on philanthropy through the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. Why does he appear in the Epstein files? Emails drafted by Epstein in 2013 and addressed to Gates contain some of the most explosive claims in the document dump. In these emails, Epstein alleged that Gates had engaged in inappropriate personal behaviour and sought Epstein’s help with sensitive matters. Epstein wrote about being asked to assist with activities that ranged from “morally inappropriate” to “ethically unsound,”
and possibly
“over the line into the illegal.”
The emails also mention alleged requests related to drugs and a possible sexually transmitted disease. However, there is no evidence these emails were ever sent, and the Gates Foundation has strongly denied the allegations. In a statement, a foundation spokesperson said: These claims — from a proven, disgruntled liar — are absolutely absurd and completely false. Gates has previously acknowledged meeting Epstein and has said he regrets associating with him. 2. Elon Musk Who he is:
Elon Musk is the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX and one of the most high-profile entrepreneurs in the world, known for electric vehicles, rockets, and artificial intelligence projects. Why does he appear in the Epstein files?
The documents include emails showing Musk and Epstein discussing a possible visit to Epstein’s private island between 2012 and 2013. In one exchange, Musk asked: What day/night will be the wildest party on your island? Later emails show Musk saying he would be near the Caribbean during the holidays and asking if it would be a good time to visit. Epstein even offered to send his helicopter. The visit ultimately did not happen. Musk has publicly said he never visited the island and claimed he declined repeated invitations. Responding on X, Musk wrote that he had “very little correspondence” with Epstein and called for anyone involved in crimes to be prosecuted. The emails place Musk in Epstein’s social orbit but do not accuse him of wrongdoing. Musk rejects allegations tied to Epstein
Musk has repeatedly said he did not know Epstein’s associate Ghislaine Maxwell, claiming that a widely shared photo of them was taken when she “photobombed” him at a Vanity Fair event. He has also rejected earlier claims about his links to Epstein, responding with “This is false” to posts suggesting he travelled to Epstein’s private island.

3. Sergey Brin Who he is:
Sergey Brin is the cofounder of Google and one of the architects of the modern internet economy. He later served as president of Alphabet, Google’s parent company. Why does he appear in the Epstein files?
Brin is shown in an undated photograph that appears to place him on Epstein’s private island, alongside women whose faces have been redacted. Additionally, court documents from Epstein victim Sarah Ransome claim she met Brin at the island. Emails from the early 2000s also show Brin communicating with Ghislaine Maxwell about attending dinners at Epstein’s New York mansion. In one message, Maxwell wrote: Dinners at Jeffrey’s are always happily casual and relaxed. It is unclear whether all planned meetings took place. Brin has not publicly commented on the latest document release and has not been accused of any wrongdoing. 4. Peter Thiel Who he is:
Peter Thiel is the cofounder of PayPal and an early investor in Facebook. He is a major figure in Silicon Valley and has backed several influential tech startups. Why does he appear in the Epstein files?
The new documents show Epstein expressing support for Hulk Hogan’s lawsuit against Gawker, a case secretly funded by Thiel that ultimately bankrupted the media company. In an email, Epstein told Thiel he would have “gladly share[d]”
the legal expenses. Thiel replied only with a smiley face. Thiel has denied visiting Epstein’s island and has said his interactions with Epstein did not involve any criminal activity. 5. Steven Sinofsky Who he is:
Steven Sinofsky is a former senior Microsoft executive who played a key role in Windows development before leaving the company in 2012. He later joined the board of venture capital firm Andreessen Horowitz. Why does he appear in the Epstein files?
Emails show Sinofsky frequently sought Epstein’s advice during his exit from Microsoft, including discussions around his compensation and future career plans. Epstein also claimed to have spoken with Apple CEO Tim Cook about Sinofsky, writing that Cook was “excited to meet.” Later emails suggest the two did meet. While the emails reveal a close advisory relationship, there are no allegations of criminal behaviour connected to Sinofsky. Why the shadow lingers The Epstein case continues to haunt public discourse because so many questions remain unanswered. Who knew what, and when? Why did so many powerful people stay in touch with him? And why did it take so long for these records to come out?
As more documents are released, one thing is clear: Epstein’s reach went far beyond politics and finance, deep into the heart of the tech world. And with every new email, the spotlight on tech’s biggest names only grows brighter.
