Google is rolling out a new feature that lets you change your @gmail.com address without creating a new account or losing your data. 1. When you change your Gmail address, only the name of your email changes; everything else stays the same.
2. Your new email address becomes your primary address, while your old one becomes an alias, which serves as a backup. This means any emails sent to either address will still arrive in the same inbox.
3. You can also use both email IDs to sign in to services like Gmail, YouTube, Google Drive, Google Maps, and Google Play without any issues.
4. Most importantly, “your emails, photos, files, messages, and account history all stay exactly where they are.”

Step-by-Step: How to change your Gmail address If the feature is available for your account, follow these steps: Step 1: Open account settings Go to: myaccount.google.com/google-account-email
Sign in with your current Gmail ID. Step 2: Go to personal info On the left side, click Personal info. Step 3: Open email Settings Tap on Email, then select Google Account email. Step 4: Change email Under “Google Account email,” click: Change Google Account email
If you don’t see this option, it means the feature hasn’t reached your account yet. You’ll need to wait. Step 5: Pick your new Gmail ID Enter your new @gmail.com username Make sure: Note: Not everyone has this option yet (it’s rolling out in phases), but once it reaches your account, switching becomes surprisingly easy.
