WhatsApp voice messages have become hugely popular since their launch in 2013. Today, people send around seven billion of them every single day! They’re fast, expressive, and perfect for anyone who finds typing tiring or inconvenient. Why converting Voice to Text helps But listening isn’t always easy. Maybe you’re in a loud place, forgot your earphones, or don’t want others hearing your private chats. Sometimes, you simply don’t have the patience to sit through a long voice note. That’s where WhatsApp’s voice-to-text feature comes in handy. Available for everyone, easy to control The feature works on both Android and iPhone worldwide. WhatsApp also gives you full control you can turn transcripts on or off anytime. Once enabled, converting a voice message to text is simple: just tap and hold, and WhatsApp instantly shows the transcript. This makes catching up on voice notes quicker, easier, and far more convenient. Here’s how to turn it on: 1. Open WhatsApp and open Settings. 2. Now, scroll down and tap on Chats option. 3. Here look for and choose ‘Voice message transcripts.’ 4. Now, select Transcript language, then pick the language that most of your incoming voice messages use. However, users can update their transcript language later by going to Settings > Chats > Transcript language. Turning the feature off will reset the language selection. Here’s how to transcribe a voice message into text: 1. Firstly, make sure Voice Message Transcripts is enabled.
2. Tap and hold any voice message in a chat.
3. Tap Transcribe.
4. The transcript will appear below the message.
5. If the transcript is long, tap the menu inside the message to expand or
collapse it.
6. It may take a moment for the text to appear. As of now it supports a number of languages on both Android and iOS. Here’s the list: Android: Currently supports English, Portuguese, Spanish, and Russian. More languages are expected to be added over time.
iPhone: iOS 16 and newer supports English, Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish and Turkish. At the same time, iOS 17 and later support English, Arabic, Chinese, Danish, Dutch, Finnish, French, German, Hebrew, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Malay, Norwegian, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, Swedish, Thai, and Turkish.
