A devastating Musi River flood in 1908 inundated Hyderabad, causing widespread destruction and loss of life. Amidst the rising waters, approximately 150 people found refuge in a large tamarind tree. This tree, later named ‘Prana Dhatri’, became a symbol of survival and remembrance for the city. Despite facing threats from road widening and neglect, the tree continues to stand near the Musi.
