Two armoury rooms at the Madras Regiment campus were broken into. Burglars stole twelve firearms and specific ammunition from the facilities. Security guards were stationed nearby but did not notice the theft. Investigators are examining the poor record maintenance and security lapses. The NIA has also begun collecting details of the ongoing investigation.
