State vigilance officials uncovered alleged diversion of government paddy worth nearly Rs 500 crore. Thousands of tonnes of paddy entrusted to rice millers were found missing from stocks. Criminal action has been initiated against approximately fifty rice mills involved in the alleged scam. A significant recovery drive has already yielded Rs 300 crore towards the missing paddy.
